New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has shortlisted three candidates for the post of technical director in the Indian national football team. Gaioz Darsadze from Georgia, Romania's Doru Isac, and Portugal's Jorge Castelo have been shortlisted for the post by the Federation.
The names were shortlisted by the technical committee of the Federation in a meeting held on Monday. The AIFF technical committee which is being headed by Shyam Thapa, has decided to hold talks with the three shortlisted candidates before arriving at a decision.
“We will have a chat with all the shortlisted candidates to understand their vision, and objective. The process will be completed within the next fortnight,” said AIFF technical committee chairman Thapa.
Savio Medeira has been working as the acting technical director of the team since Scott 'O Donnell resigned from the post in 2017. Medeira was also present at the meeting. While the Australian Scott 'O Donnell had again applied for the post he has been ruled out by the committee.
"Scott has been in India for six years and we're looking for someone with a fresh vision now," a member of the committee said.
AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das, national team director Abhishek Yadav and I-league CEO Sunando Dhar were among the other people present at the meeting. The committee also decided in the meeting to take the decision on the national team coach in two weeks time. The appointment of the coach is expected to be done by the second week of May.
The committee is expected to meet again on May 23.
