Big development regarding the future of ISL top-scorer Ferran Corominas
by Chirag R Bhattad
Ferran Corominas and FC Goa sent us all in a frenzy when they put out a "Thank You Coro" post, hinting towards a potential exit from the Spanish sharp-shooter. He has been absolutely instrumental in FC Goa's impressive form in the last two seasons, with his goals pushing the Gaurs in the knockout stages of successive Indian Super League.
He was linked with a whole host of clubs, with ATK being a prime destination thanks to his links with Manuel Lanzarote, a former FC Goa player, and ATK's desire to buy the best player from previous seasons year-after-year.
But in another post, FC Goa have confirmed that Ferran Corominas has put to pen a deal that will see him stay in the club for another season. In a dramatic set of posts, FC Goa first confirmed that Ferran Corominas's current deal has expired, following it up with another post saying Coro has signed a new deal.
So, after a dramatic few days, one thing is clear. We alreaady have the top-scorer and Hero of the league for next season. Ferran Corominas has been deadly for FC Goa over the last couple of seasons. He has scored 34 goals coupled with 12 assists, which is almost 54% of the total goals scored by FC Goa. Coro has directly been involved in more than half of the goals scored by FC Goa in the last two seasons of the ISL.
This is why he was such a crucial player, a player who emulates the importance of other titanic figures like Sunil Chhetri, Iain Hume and probably matches that of Stiven Mendoza and Miku. The former has now carved out a career at a mid-table French Ligue 1 side Amiens. While age is not at his side, Coro still hasn't lost any of his deadly attributes, and FC Goa have done incredibly well to keep hold of him for another season as they chase the elusive Indian Super League title.
