Blue Tigers set to take on NorthEast United in practice match

The national team is set to face an ISL side for the first time ever.

Guwahati: The Indian national football team is all set to take on Indian Super League (ISL) outfit NorthEast United FC here on Wednesday, 9th of October in a practice match.

This is the first instance when the senior national side will be involved in a fixture with an ISL outfit.

India is set to face Bangladesh on October 15th in 2022 FIFA World Cup  and 2023 AFC Asian Cup joint qualifiers at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium and head coach Igor Stimac will view this match as an important one before the qualifier match.

The match will take place at the Sarujsarai Stadium at 7:30 PM.

As per officials no tickets have been issued for the match but the match has been kept open for fans as they can come to stadium to watch the game free of cost.

Speaking about the game, NEUFC boss Robert Jarni said, “It’s a great opportunity for us to play the Indian national team before we begin our season. I am sure it will be a fantastic match and will help both sides prepare for the upcoming fixtures.”
