Valencia: The Indian women's football team defeated Bolivia by 3-1 here on Saturday to register their first win in the Spanish tournament. A Ratanbala Devi brace and a Bala Devi goal was enough for the Blue Tigresses to outmanoeuvre their South American counterparts.
It wasn't a 'sweet' start for India in the game though when Sweety Devi scored an own goal to give Bolivia the lead in the second minute of the game. But the joy for the Bolivians was short-lived. In the 5th minute, Bala Devi managed to get the ball in the opponent box and she made no mistake as she volleyed the ball over the keeper inot the back of the net, equalizing for India.
India didn't however put much action after that and the scoreline remained intact at the blow of half time whistle. After the sides changed, the Indian team took little time to get to the business. Ratanbala Devi scored an impressive header after receiving the ball from the left flank in the 36th minute to earn the lead for the side.
She was once again in the centre of action soon after as she managed to score another goal to double India's lead as the team wrapped up with full points.
