New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially announced an advertisement for the position of head coach for the India U-17 Women's national football team. The Indian U-17 girls squad, which will participate in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in 2020, that will be hosted by India itself, is being currently managed by Alex Ambrose.
The 35-member probables squad is set to get a new foreign head coach most probably by the next month. The AIFF is looking to appoint a coach who has at least eight years of experience in managing at the professional level. “We have kick-started the process [of hiring a coach] with the release of advertisements. I am sure we will get a worthy candidate,” Abhishek Yadav, National team director with AIFF.
While the Federation is looking to get a female head coach on board, the apex football governing of the country may consider a male head coach too if the CV impresses them.
"For the head coach’s position, a female coach is preferred. We believe it will be good to have a female as the coach, but if we find someone with a very good profile, we might choose him. The other two positions [fitness and goalkeeping] will depend on the applications we receive,” said Yadav.
