New Delhi: Former Romania U-19 assistant coach Doru Isac has been appointed as the Technical director of the Indian national football team.
The Romanian has been appointed by the AIFF technical committee led by Shyam Thapa which met on Monday to pick one of the three candidates for the spot-Doru, Jorge Castelo and Gaioz Darsadze. He will now replace Savio Medeira who was the acting Technical director of the team.
The 57-year old was last working as the sporting director of Japanese top tier club Yokohama FC. Marinos and has managerial experiences with US top tier club Houston Dynamos' U-23s and Romania U-19 national team.
Doru has previously worked as assistant to legendary French coach Arsene Wenger and Manchester United boss Carlos Queiroz. The Romanian comes in with considerable knowledge of Asian football, having worked in Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Qatar over a period of 22 years.
