Indian girls defeat Romania in second friendly

The U-17 side of the Blue Tigresses won by the narrowest margin against Romanian counterparts.
The India U-17 women's team defeated Romania U-17 by 1-0 in the second friendly encounter between
the two sides in Turkler, Turkey on Wednesday.

Priyangka Devi scored from the spot to give the Blue Tigresses the win by a solitary goal.

The previous encounter between the two sides ended up in a 3-3 draw.

India began well in the first half, as the team started attacking well upfront. India's best chance came in
the 28th minute when Nirmala connected a shot very well, but the attempt was saved by the opposing
keeper.

However, a minute later, Priyangka Devi scored from the penalty spot as she calmly slotted the ball
home from 12 yards out to give India the lead.


In the second half, India came close to doubling the lead when Sumati came close to hitting the ball at
the back of the net through Priyangka's cross but her effort was saved by the keeper.

The Indian defence earned a clean sheet in the match as the team managed to keep the scoreline intact
at the blow of the full-time whistle.
