New Delhi: Delhi Dynamos earned all three points as the hosts defeated a 10-man down Kerala Blasters at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium today. Giani Zuiverloon and Rene Mihelic registered themselves on the scoresheet for the home side.
New Mexican import Ulises Davila combined well with Chhangte upfront and were almost on the verge of putting the home side in lead on the 24th minute but the Mexican missed the tapin chance from a handshaking distance.
Zuiverloon was left unmarked as Rene Mihelic found him from the corner kick and the ex-West Brom player vollyed it home to draw the first blood for Dynamos. Early in the second half, the visitors had an opportunity to level the scoreline but Lakic-Pesic's header from a Stojanovic freekick hit the crossbar.
Late in the dying minutes of the game, Lalruatthara made a last-man challenge on Lallianzuala Chhangte and was sent off by the referee. The resulting penalty was converted by Rene Mihelic to put the final stamp on the win for the men in white.
With this win the hosts leapfrogged Blasters into 8th position in the league table on the basis of goal difference.
