Doha: A Qatari sports correspondent has confirmed to Indifoot that Qatar Stars League outfit Al Gharafa SC is closing on a deal with India international centre-back Sandesh Jhingan.
Jhingan is currently a free agent, having last played for Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters FC. The defender has played for the Kochi-based side for almost 5 years.The Chandigarh-born defender has been released by the club and is on the radar of many clubs.
Sandesh Jhingan's heriocs in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 for the Indian national team has attracted many eyeballs and now Al Gharafa Sports Club is keen to sign up the 25-year old.
If the deal goes through, he will become the first ever player to join a West Asian club. He will get the opportunity to rub shoulders with players like ex-Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder.
The Qatari outfit is currently on 7th position in the league this season and will be looking to boost themselves to find a berth in the AFC Champions League.
