Sogou creates history in Mumbai City's thumping over Kerala Blasters

Mumbai: Hosts Mumbai City FC thumped Kerala Blasters by 6-1 to go into the winter break with all three points. Senegalese striker Moudou Sogou became the first ever player to score four goals in the Indian Super League.

The hosts drew the first blood as early as in the12th minute when Machado's cross was put into the back of the net by Sogou. Raynier assisted Sogou again as the latter doubled the lead for the Islanders in the 15th minute.

The visitors pulled one back in the 27th minute through a striker from Len Doungel but the relief lasted short for them as Sogou scored again to complete his hat trick. Matters became worse as Blasters went down to ten men right before the half time as Zakeer received double booking.

Brazilian Bastos added another one at the 70th minute to make it 4-1. Substitute Mirabaje joined the list too at the 89th minute following which Sogou scored his fourth of the night just seconds before the end of the match.

Mumbai City FC go into the break with 24 points, just 3 behind league leaders Bengaluru FC while Kerala Blasters remain at 8th position.
