Super Cup 2019: FC Goa breeze past Indian Arrows.

Bhubhaneshwar: FC Goa opened their Super Cup 2019 campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Indian Arrows at the Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday. Coro and Boumous scored one each for the Goan outfit while Deepak Tangri scored an own goal.

Goa were on the front foot right from the word go. The Gaurs dominated the midfield game with the likes of Zaid Krouch, Hugo Boumous and Jackichand Singh causing problems for the Arrows' defence.

Soon, Zaid Krouch's attempted volley was handled inside the penalty box, leading a penalty. Ferran Corominas stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past Prabhsukhan Singh Gill to make the scoreline 1-0 in the favour of The Gaurs.

The Arrows looked determined to earn an equalizer and tried hard throughout the first half, which they almost found when Narender managed to head the ball on target from Anwar Ali's freekick but the ball was headed straight into the Goan custodian.

With the halfway point nearing, Goa had the chance to double their lead on two occasions. Jackichand Singh got onto the end of a cross from Zaid But the former's header was well wide of the target. Only a minute later, Lenny Rodrigues received the ball from a clever cut back by Zaid but his shot just whistling past the top corner.

However they finally managed to double their lead at the hour mark. Edu Bedia picked up the ball in the midfield and released the ball in the space to Corominas. The latter took one touch and played a sumptuous through ball to Hugo Boumous who skipped past Prabhsukhan to put the ball into the empty net.

It was always going to be a difficult task for the Indian Arrows side to overcome this deficit. In the dying minutes of the game, Brandon Fernandes cross from the corner was misread by Deepak Tangri. The ball hit the defender's shin and creeped into the back of the net to make the scoreline 3-0 in the favour of the Indian Super League (ISL) outfit.
