THE PL TRANSFER GAMES

The 26 year old Crystal Palace forward has witnessed his career best in last season. He scored 10 goals in 36 matches last season taking his tally to scoring 35 goals in his 5 year career as Crystal Palace player. Zaha much like as a winger, a strong counter-attacking outlet as a forward and is subsequently a benefit for Palace’s intent to make use of transitional play and knock downs from long balls. Arsenal, in terms of forwards, are stocked up with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, but are looking forward to create an attacking trio having the ability to creave havoc on the pitch. Zaha, in all possibilities, would have been a perfect signing, owing to huge experience of playing in Premier League along with his skills and pace to break any defense and score long range goals or set up Lacazette or Aubameyang to score goals. Crystal Palace are unwilling to lose their prospect to top PL clubs and have placed € 85 Million price tag. Arsenal held several meeting with the club to lower their valuation, but Palace refused to bulge on the valuation. Arsenal went ahead with looking for other targets and have landed Lille’s Nicolas Pepe for € 72 Million, ending Zaha’s hopes to play for any of top 6 PL clubs in 2019/20 season.

However, Zaha got another chance to move out of Crystal Palace, when Merseyside club Everton, came knocking the doors. Everton have always been looking ways to challenge the top 6 and have been experiencing transition under owner Farhad Moshiri as well as new technical director Marcel Brands. Everton have already signed a lot of quality players last summer such as Richarlison, Bernard, Yerri Mina, Andre Gomes and Lucas Digne. Their focus on this year was to improve their attacking prowess and Zaha was Brands first choice to replace Ademola Lookman who joined RB Leipzig on permanent deal. Zaha expressed his desire to play for Everton by submitting a transfer request to Palace board. Zaha’s positional switch from winger to a rather well-rounded forward has certainly continued to benefit Crystal Palace’s tactics, with Zaha being just as much, if not even more of a threat on counter-attacks over the last season or so, and has more freedom to roam across the attack.. Everton have been looking for a forward that can finish the game for the club and link up well with Richarlison. However, the club were unwilling to match Palace’s valuation and have made €60 Million plus James McCarthy, Yannick Bolasie and Cenk Tosun offer. At the end, Zaha ended up being at Crystal Palace, while Everton went ahead with signing Juventus youngster Moise Kean and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi instead for €60 Million without losing out on any current players.
